Interlux Aqua-One Performance Ablative is a water-based ablative antifouling bottom paint engineered to keep barnacles, zebra mussels, slime, and algae from taking hold below the waterline. Unlike hard antifouling coatings that build up layer after layer and eventually require heavy sanding, Aqua-One's ablative formula wears away gradually as the boat moves through the water, continuously exposing fresh biocide and self-smoothing the surface season after season. Because it is water-based, it goes on easier and with less odor than solvent-based antifouling paints, while still standing up to salt, brackish, and fresh water environments. It is suitable for fiberglass, wood, and properly primed metal hulls, but it should not be applied to aluminum.
