Sanding between coats is not necessary, though light sanding with a sanding pad produces a smoother surface. Where the finish has been used before, an annual maintenance coat is recommended: clean the surface, rinse with fresh water, allow to dry, roughen with a sanding pad, clean again, and apply 1 to 2 coats. For a high-gloss exterior finish, follow with a minimum of 2 coats of Cetol Marine Gloss, sanding lightly between coats with 220-320 grit sandpaper.
