Formed from heavy-duty 18 gauge 316 marine grade stainless steel and finished with a mirror polish, each SkegGuard wraps and reinforces the leading edge and tip of the skeg, absorbing impact that would otherwise chip fiberglass, crack the gearcase housing, or shear off the skeg entirely. Because it slides on and is secured without cutting into the gearcase, a SkegGuard can also restore function to a skeg that has already been damaged, letting boaters avoid an expensive lower unit replacement.
