Attwood stainless steel gas springs give livewell lids, line locker lids, deck hatches, and other lift-up panels smooth, controlled operation and a secure hold-open position, even in saltwater and other harsh marine environments. Built around a #316 stainless steel pressure tube and rod, with stainless steel and marine-grade composite exposed components, these gas springs resist corrosion far better than standard mild-steel or chrome-plated lift supports. Each unit shares the same 8 inch stroke, compressing from 20 inches extended down to 12 inches compressed, and is available in two force ratings so you can match the spring to the size and weight of the panel you are lifting.

Sizes & Options
Both gas springs in this line share identical dimensions and rod/socket sizing, so the only decision is force rating. Choose the 20 lb spring for lighter panels such as smaller livewell lids or line locker doors, where a gentler assist is enough to hold the panel open without slamming. Choose the 40 lb spring for heavier or larger hatches and deck lids that need more lifting force to stay open reliably. If you are replacing an existing gas spring, match the force rating to your original part, or size up slightly if the panel has felt difficult to hold open in the past.
